Coffee is among Brazil’s top 15 agricultural exports to Arab countries by 2022, according to Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA). In this list, coffee is also the commodity with the highest price increase. Specifically, coffee was sold at the Arab League for 3,962.57 USD/ton, up 88.10% from a year earlier.

While product prices are higher, sales volume and revenue to the Arab bloc have decreased. The Brazilian Coffee Exporters Association (Cecafé) said that 845,860 60kg bags were exported in 2022, reaching 206.9 million USD, down 48.1% in volume and 4% in value.

Cecafé President Márcio Ferreira explained that overall exports experienced shipment problems in 2022. Logistics problems resulted in a decrease in total export volumes, despite a significant increase in prices.

However, Mr. Ferreira said that the leading cause comes from the climate phenomena that have hit Brazil’s coffee farms over the past few years.

“The impact of bad weather in 2021, especially in the arabica growing regions of South Minas Gerais and Mogiana (North São Paulo), has driven up coffee prices,” he said. One of them was a prolonged drought, followed by the biggest frost since 1994.

Coffee News: City League Coffee Takes Its Shot in Brooklyn

Blend Coffee + Co-Bay Work’s Ridge location will now be occupied by City League Coffee Roasters, the company’s first retail cafe in Brooklyn, New York.

City League opened its doors in early January after refurbishing and redecorating the about 1,000-square-foot store. The store’s fresh new retail idea was the result of years of inspiration and note-taking.

Demchak’s preferred 1990s basketball movies, “Above The Rim,” “He Got Game,” and “Blue Chips,” are displayed on a shelf behind the counter next to the coffee bags. Genuine New York Mets Shea Stadium seats and bleachers are available for seating. The plants that liven up the area thrive in planters built from recycled Wilson basketballs.

By the cash register is a glass jar with Bazooka Joe bubblegum inside. Demchak remarked, “The response we got from that tiny touch has been everything. Customers pause right away as they are transported back to a happy, innocent childhood memory.
