Affiliated with some of the largest coffee trading companies like the NCA and backed by Fair Trade. We exist to serve and supply roasters with the highest quality beans from around the world. We like to think we are a roaster’s best friend.
Coffee Roasters Guild Retreat Returns
Time and address
After a two-year hiatus, the Coffee Roasters Guild‘s annual CRG Retreat is returning for 2022, taking place August 25-28 along the shores of Delavan Lake in Southern Wisconsin.
The CRG Retreat has roots going back
The CRG Retreat has roots in the early 2000s and the early days of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) Roasters Guild, now known simply as the Coffee Roasters Guild since the 2016 merger of the SCAA and the SCAE.
Since those early years, the annual event has grown in size and scope. However, it maintains the “summer camp” vibes through spirited competitions and camaraderie.
“Not only is Retreat my favourite coffee event but arguably the most beneficial for roasters and tasters alike,” CRG Leadership Council member and Caffe Vita Head Roaster Baylee Engberg said in an announcement from the group.
“Whether you’re looking to learn to roast from scratch, form stronger community connections, taste the coffee lexicon, try your hand at a new machine, or just win the competition. This event is for you. The retreat is summer camp for coffee professionals.”
Most striking features of the annual Retreat
The roasting tent is one of the most striking features of the annual Retreat. Roasting machines from more than a dozen manufacturers are assembled on site for hands-on training, workshops and demonstrations.
New to this year’s event, taking place at the Lake Lawn Resort, will be an optional (paid) workshop for training for the United States Roaster Championship.
In addition to social activities and the signature event-long team roasting competition. The Retreat features numerous lectures and workshops for roasters of all experience levels.
Coffee Association membership
Early bird pricing for the CRG Retreat is currently available for $995 for Specialty Coffee Association members. And it is $1,195 for non-members through July 29. Registration does not include flights or hotels.
