In the Costa Rican elevation-based coffee classification system. Medium Hard Beans refer to coffee beans grown at 500 to 900m above sea level. Above this, we also have Good Hard Beans (GHB) – cultivated at about 1,000 to 1,200m; Strictly High Grown (SHG) / Strictly Hard Beans (SHB) means coffee beans grown over 1,200m.
However, it should be emphasized that the height of cultivation is not strictly a classification method but instead serves as the basis for the classification of coffee by size (or weight)
